As we all well know, our planet Earth is just a very small chunk of rock floating in zero gravity in a vast space called the Universe. The Universe consists of billions of stars which form millions of galaxies. And almost every star in a galaxy is surrounded by its own planets. Some very big planets which are called gas giants, and others much smaller more like our own Earth or Mars.
But there are also other things in the Universe we know very little about. Such as space nebulas, black holes, great white stars, super novas, asteroid fields, comets and maybe even worm holes which can take you very far if you go into them. A lot of people know that black holes are so powerful that they can suck up anything that comes into their vicinity, even a star. But only a few people know and believe that at the centre of every galaxy lies a super-giant black hole that can devour a whole cluster of stars. They also say that the Universe we know is enormous. Almost 20 billion light years in every direction (from the centre, of course). But does anyone know what is beond our Universe? Where is the Universe expanding to and if it is growing all the time, is there any danger that one day it will start collapsing? I hope that day does not come any time soon.
So with all of those billions of stars and their planets out there, how can anyone still deny the fact that there is intelligent extra-terrestrial life in space. I mean the possibility that we are the only living beings in this vast Universe is just so unbelievable that it is absolutely absurd. Only somebody like a priest could think of it; no offence.
We are currently living in a very exciting time because science and technology are advancing at such a rate that it is just a mater of time before we discover warp drive and with it light speed. I sure hope I will live to see it and that I will still be around when we make our first contact with “little green men”. And then, science fiction will be a thing of the past.
